This week the students listened to The Watcher, a picture book biography about Jane Goodall.
We thought more deeply about Jane Goodall while reading by asking specific questions such as: How does she feel? What is she good at? What does she want? How does she feel? What does she look like? After finishing the book, we practiced summarizing the book by answering the following questions: Who? What? Where? How? Why? Finally, we practiced using context clues to find the meaning of an unknown word. The clues we examined included: -how the word is used. -picture clues. -words around the word. Encourage your child to practice these skills while reading independently and with you.
